First, thanks for all your posts about Excel/VBA/Programming in general and thanks for the VBA to VB.NET compiler – Very helpful indeed.
I’m trying to figure out how a program stores my models. The program is called Innovyze ICM which is a piece of Hydraulic Modelling software (bear with me).
When I load a model into ICM it produces a bunch of files. Some of these files are TextFiles:
#Children,1,()

However others appear to be in binary format:
I want to be able to, from VBA, read how the model is stored in the network.
Ultimately I need a way of reading this Binary file into Excel so I can analyse which parts of the file change when I change certain parts of the database within the program itself. (I’m choosing Excel for lack of another tool that can do the same – are there some you could recommend?)
So my question is, how would one go about this?
If I can read the binary file into a string of binary 1s and 0s then I could easily find the changes and hopefully over time decipher how to read these files. But I don’t currently know how I would do this.
I hope you have a better understanding here?
